MOTHER BURNS STEP DAUGHTER WITH BOILING WATER FOR STEALING K15, ONLY TO REALIZE AFTERWARDS THAT IT WAS NOT HER WHO STOLE THE MONEY…….
A 29 year old woman of Isoka in Muchinga Province has wrongly burnt her 9 year step daughter for stealing K15. The girl suffered severe burns on both hands after her step mother allegedly dipped them in boiling water as punishment for stealing K15, Muchinga
Province Police Commissioner Noel Njanse has said.
Mr Njase named the suspect as Mervis Kasonde, 29, who punished her step daughter by dipping her hands into boiling water and also denied her food for suspecting her of stealing K15.
Mr Njanse said in an interview on Friday that according to a formal complaint by the girl's biological father Jecap Silungwe, the mother alleged that her step daughter had stolen K15 which the girl, a Grade Four pupil in Isoka denied. But while the girl was crying after being badly burnt, a neigbour identified as Mirriam Namwila came with a packet of 1kg sugar, some sweets and mangoes which she bought Mervice Kasonde, and that was when the step mother relalised she had given K15 to her friend to buy her sugar, sweets and mangoes. She cried loudly for the unfair treatment to her step daughter before police came to pick her up.
Reports from neigbours say the step mother has been beating her step daughter even on small mistakes whenever the father was away and that day she decided to burn her up..This is really sad.
The poor Grade 4 girl is now admitted at Isoka General Hospital while her step mother is in police cells.
Doctors say she will never again use her hands to write because are both hands are completely burnt.
The 1kg sugar and sweets plus mangoes were picked by the police to use as part of evidence in court.
