The trend of dumping of infants after too much unprotected sex encounters is on the rise in Chingola.
The latest incidence was July 26 when Police picked a body of an infant which was dumped on the far end of Chiwempala Road, near Chiwempala's SNDP site and service Township better know as Mikiloni.
Zambian Eye Correspondent in Chingola reports that the residents discovered the body which was believed to have been dumped in the morning and reported to the police the same morning.
The infant which is believed to be between 6 months to one year old was dumped unwrapped in a fallow by the berms of Chiwempala Road.
Police forensic department arrived at the scene around 9:00am and deposited the body at Nchanga General Hospital Mortuary.
Meanwhile residents of Chiwempala Township have expressed sadness at the trend of dumping children.
According to the residents, many infants are being dumped without being reported in the media, a trend which has been very common in Chingola.
"Chingola is now becoming a dungeon of hell. Why are the young people getting pregnant if they know they can't keep baby's? We are asking for the police to start arresting these young girls. Most of them are going Scott free," Hilda Muzendi said.
