BREAKING: 6 more Zambians test positive for coronavirus, there are now 35 covid-19 cases in Zambia

Zambia has recorded SIX new cases of the COVID-19 bringing the total of confirmed cases to 35.

The Six positive cases are out of the 51 tests carried out in the last 24 hours.

Minister of Health Dr Chitalu Chilufya says the new cases involves a couple, maid, one child, a congregant at a religious event who was in contact with a person related to the persons who visited Pakistan.

Last week minister Chilufya announced at the media briefing that six cases were traced from the cluster of contacts of Zambians who arrived from Pakistan a fortnight ago.

Therefore, Zambians who visited Pakistan are responsible for the surging cases of coronavirus cases in Zambia, so it seems.

Following these revelations of the majority of the cases being linked to those who had travelled to Pakistan, the Association of the Indian Community in Zambia (AlCZ), last week, mandated the Hindu and Muslim communities to immediately implement Covid-19 remedial and precautionary measures!

The AlCZ went on to request its members to immediately go into self imposed isolation for at least a period of two weeks; and to close all business houses during the same period.

Meanwhile, Dr Chilufya says one of the six people who tested positive recently was in contact with the Pakistan group on the same flight from India.

He says all the patients are stable apart from the one who is in a critical condition and in ICU.

The Minister was speaking during a COVID-19 update in Lusaka today.
