Zambia treats first 2 coronavirus patients: They are now negative and we’re discharging them


Minister of health Dr. Chitalu Chilufya has disclosed that government will tomorrow discharge two people that have recovered from Coronavirus from isolation centers.

The two people, a Zambian couple that had gone to France on holiday with their two children tested positive for the virus two weeks ago and have been in hospital receiving treatment but have since tested negative and will be discharged tomorrow April 4th 2020.

When the couple first broke headlines, Dr Chitalu said the husband was the only one who was showing symptoms while his wife was asymptotic. It was further reported that the couple’s children tested negative for the novel coronavirus.

Meanwhile Zambia has not recorded any covid 19 positive case in the last 24hrs following 262 alerts received.

Health minister Dr Chitalu Chilufya says the two patients have now become immune to the Coronavirus.

Speaking at the media briefing today Dr Chilufya said there had been no new case of infection.

He explained that health officials had followed up 262 alerts in the last 24 hours which turned out to be classified as non-cases.
