Lusaka Mayor Miles Sampa donates chicken to coronavirus patient in Chaisa Township

AS PART of his Do It Yourself (DIY) campaign, Lusaka Mayor Miles Sampa has started to provide basic necessities to families of corona-virus patients who are recuperating in hospital.

Mr Sampa has so far donated four bags of the staple food and a chicken to four children of Chaisa Township whose mother is recovering at Levy Mwanawasa Medical University Hospital.

The mealie-meal and relish were given to Chaisa ward councillor Ruth Phiri on Saturday who will deliver the goods on behalf of the city father.

Mr Sampa spoke to the patient (a mother, of Chaisa) on phone to check on her well-being and to assure her that he will fend for her family.

“I spoke to one of the coronavirus patients and promised to give her mealie meal and one chicken for her children so that she is at peace. I want her to know that we are taking care of her four children,” Mr Sampa said in a video posted on his Facebook page.

Mr Sampa urged other wellwishers to donate to victims of COVID-19, which has claimed a life in Zambia, three have been discharged and 35 are still receiving treatment.
