Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya tests positive for coronavirus as Zambia COVID-19 cases reach 1057

Zambia’s Minister of Health Chitalu Chilufya has tested Positive to Covid-19 as the country recorded 137 new cases, from the 4,264 tests done in the last 5 days, bringing the cumulative number of cases to 1057.

Announcing the development in Lusaka today, Secretary to the Cabinet Simon Miti said Dr. Chilufya has since gone into self-isolation, while his contacts are being traced.

And Dr. Miti said 443 recoveries were recorded in the last 5 days, bringing a total number of recoveries in the country to 743.

He said government will continue responding the fight against Covid-19 and encouraged people to continue adhering to set guidelines to avoid contracting the disease.

Dr. Miti said people must adjust their lives towards the new normal of living with Covid-19.

Meanwhile, Dr. Miti said all government departments are working together to ensure the safety of pupils in examination classes as they re-open classes next week Monday.
