Pastor George Chibubi was picked by the police in Ndola for organising a meeting with fellow pastors to discuss the budget…and his police bond denied today…but why?
Zambia has not printed the yellow pages only the finance minister and speaker have copies, you are drawing attention to things we are ignoring because we are sympathizers.
Just before the weekend, President Edgar Lungu pulled a shocker when he allegedly directed the Police to arrest pastors who had gathered to discuss the debt crisis and 2019 National budget.
Police then also summoned the CTPD leaders a civil society organisation to the Ndola police station.
Following the arrest of the pastors, Centre for Trade Policy and Development issued a statement which read in part:
“This is a meeting we held at Ndola Baptist Church to share our reflections on the proposed 2019 National Budget with Faith Leaders, we had over 50 faith leaders who had gathered to be part of this meeting. As we speak, Pastor George Palo, one of the leaders that helped us to bring together the Faith Leaders is still at the police for question.
“From the Centre for Trade Police and Development, two have also been summoned. Our Head of Programmes and Research, Mr Brian Chiko Mwiinga and our Communications Officer Mr.Isaiah Mbewe are on their way to Ndola Police station for questioning as well,” part of the statement said.
Meanwhile, a prominent lawyer, Elias Munshya, has released a video, appealing to President Lungu to release the great man of God.
“We are appealing to President Lungu and the Zambian government to release Pastor George Chibubi Palo,” he said.
